All Nippon Airways Co. applied March 16 to the Transport Ministry for approval to begin three new flights a week between Osaka and Tianjin, China.
ANA will use 217-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft for the new service scheduled to begin May 19 from Kansai International Airport to the industrial Chinese city near Beijing.
The carrier also applied to the ministry to begin offering two flights a week between Osaka and Shanghai by way of Fukuoka as well as a weekly flight between Osaka and Shanghai, starting May 18. ANA will also use Boeing 767-300 aircraft for the service to Shanghai.
The carrier currently operates from Tokyo or Osaka to five cities in China -- Beijing, Qingdao, Dalian, Shanghai and Hong Kong. ANA plans to increase its network to China later this year.
