During a Lower House Budget Committee meeting Friday, Cabinet members admitted serious concern over current business conditions.
Labor Minister Bunmei Ibuki said the labor market is in a severe state, particularly in the manufacturing and construction sectors. The number of job offers in manufacturing suffered a double-digit drop last month compared with the previous month, Ibuki said.
Koji Omi, head of the Economic Planning Agency, meanwhile said domestic consumption has dwindled.
