NAGANO -- Dominik Hasek saved 39 shots and Jaromir Jagr scored the tie-breaking goal and added an assist as the Czech Republic beat the United States 4-1 in the men's hockey quarterfinals Wednesday at Big Hat.
The loss sent the U.S. team, the 1996 World Cup champion, to an early exit from the tournament. The Czech Republic, making its second Olympic appearance since Czechoslovakia broke into two countries, reached the semifinals for the first time.
