Claris Japan Inc., the Japanese subsidiary of U.S.-based FileMaker Inc., will change its name to FileMaker Japan on April 1, Claris Japan President Takanobu Miyamoto said Thursday.
The manufacturer of database programs will turn its focus to database software following a similar move by its parent company, previously called Claris Corp., this month, Miyamoto said.
Claris Japan Inc. has been handling sales and marketing of the Japanese versions of Claris and Apple brand software, including Claris Works and Mac OS. Claris Japan will transfer most of its products except for the FileMaker series to the Apple Computer group, Miyamoto said.
FileMaker Inc., a subsidiary of California-based Apple Computer, changed its name and transferred development and sales of the bulk its its popular software to Apple Computer earlier this month.
