A dark cloud hangs over Shinshinto in the runup to its presidential election Thursday.
The election, which will be fought between incumbent Ichiro Ozawa and challenger Michihiko Kano, former head of the Management and Coordination Agency, will probably hasten the gradual decay of the three-year-old party rather than provide it with a chance to reverse course, experts say.
