A JR train left its conductor on a platform at Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture, on Thursday morning, delaying services and inconveniencing 21,000 commuters on the Sobu Line, the railway company said.
East Japan Railway Co. officials said the Sobu Line train bound for Nishi-Funabashi left Ichikawa Station at 7:43 a.m., leaving the conductor, who was helping a passenger having trouble, on the platform. The conductor chased the train in a taxi, and got back on at the next station.
JR East had a similar mishap earlier this week. On Monday, the Asama bullet train on the Nagano Shinkansen Line left Tokyo Station without any conductors or passengers.
