Industrial output in September rose 2.4 percent from the previous month, an upward revision from a preliminary increase of 1.6 percent, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry said in a report released Monday.
The production index for the nation's mines and factories, which uses 1990 as a base year, came to a seasonally adjusted 102.8, up 4.2 percent from a year ago, the report says. The upward revision was attributed primarily to strong performance in medicines, whiskeys and condensers that were not reflected in the preliminary report.
The shipments index increased 2.9 percent to 105.5, an upward revision of 0.8 percentage points compared with a preliminary figure. The inventory index was down 0.3 percent to 111.4, remaining unchanged from a preliminary figure.
The operating level at industrial facilities in September stood at 89.1, up 1.5 percent from the previous month, the report says. Production capacity was 101.9, remaining unchanged from a level marked both last month and a year ago.
