Tokyo police released on Sept. 3 photos of a man wanted in connection with a series of rapes and robberies.
The suspect allegedly forced his way into the apartments of at least 13 young women living alone in Tokyo's Toshima and Shinjuku wards. The Metropolitan Police Department and officers from Mejiro Police Station said the photos were obtained from images on a security camera at a bank. The man was videotaped as he withdrew cash using a cash card he had stolen from one of his victims.
Most of the victims in the 13 attacks, which occurred between July last year and late August this year, were women in their 20s. The culprit, believed to be the same man from descriptions given by the victims, may have stolen several million yen, police said.
