Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto will leave Tokyo on June 19 to attend the annual summit of the Group of Seven major industrialized nations in Denver and to meet with European leaders in Europe, Chief Cabinet Secretary Seiroku Kajiyama announced June 9.
Hashimoto will attend the Denver summit on June 21 and 22 during a trip lasting from June 19 through June 28. After the summit meetings, Hashimoto will go to New York to participate in a June 23 United Nations General Assembly meeting on environment and development, at which many national leaders are expected to make speeches on the issues, according to Kajiyama.
Hashimoto will then fly to the Netherlands to attend a regular summit between Japan and the European Union on June 24. He will also visit Norway June 26 to meet with leaders of Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Norway, Kajiyama said.
