The Tokyo District Court sentenced a former gangster June 9 to one year in prison for dumping the bodies of two slain managers of a hostess bar in Tokyo's Gotanda district sometime between late 1995 and early 1996.
According to the ruling, Atsushi Matsumoto, 38, conspired with two former employees of the bar to dump the body of store manager Shoji Hashiguchi, 32, and chief assistant Masahiro Hiraga, 33, after the former workers killed the two in a robbery in December 1995. In exchange for 10 million yen in cash, Matsumoto transported the bodies, embedded in concrete, by truck to Kashima port in Ibaraki Prefecture, where they were dumped sometime between December 1995 and early 1996, according to the court.
