OSAKA -- The Nanko port area is the scene of two ongoing American events: a trade fair promoting U.S. goods and a Cajun food festival.
Companies from the U.S. fashion, housewares, housing, automobile and service industries are on hand for the Discover America fair, a two-day event that is part of a regular series of trade fairs. The Cajun food festival is being held at the Hyatt Regency across the street from the Asia-Pacific Trade Center. Scheduled to run until May 5, the event includes a variety of Cajun dishes prepared by chefs from Louisiana, local micro beers and live Cajun music.
Discover America is being sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General of Osaka-Kobe and the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan and supported by the Japan External Trade Organization and ATC. The Cajun fair is sponsored by Friendly's family restaurants, with the assistance of the U.S. Agricultural Trade Office. Another show, the Tokyo International Trade Fair, is in progress at Tokyo Big Sight in Koto Ward and has drawn participants from 41 countries and regions. It ends April 27.
