The Japanese Red Cross Language Service Volunteers are seeking volunteers to help with management, planning, translation and other activities.
The organization, established in 1965, is one of the Japanese Red Cross Society's Special Volunteer Corps and has nearly 200 members. Its main activities include support for Red Cross events and other activities involving translation, disaster assistance, welcoming and assisting handicapped foreign guests, as well as helping handicapped people with their English.
Volunteers who speak languages other than English are also needed, but should possess Japanese conversation skills. Explanatory meetings will be held April 6 and 12 at the Japanese Red Cross Society's headquarters in Minato-ku, Tokyo, beginning at 2:30 p.m. For more information call (03) 3438-1311, ext. 5300, between 2 and 5 p.m. Apr. 5.
