Mutsu-Ogawara Development Inc. announced Mar. 11 that it will appoint Takao Uchida as its new president, effective March 26.
Uchida, a former managing director of Toshiba Corp., served as chairman of Japan Nuclear Fuel Co. until last June. Uchida will replace Kazuo Nukazawa, who will become senior managing director of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren).
Keidanren has been actively supporting development of the Mutsu-Ogawara industrial site in Aomori Prefecture by trying to attract companies both from Japan and abroad to invest there, but the results have been disappointing. The company is now hoping to attract the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, being jointly developed by Japan, the United States, Europe and Russia, to the site.
