Yahoo Japan Corp., an Internet search service company, and Obunsha Co., a major publishing company, will begin a Web service on Jan. 23 to predict the chances of an examinee passing university entrance exams based on an Obunsha database, the companies said Jan. 16.The prediction will be based on the mock exam Obunsha says it administered to 320,000 students across Japan last year. It will be displayed on a Web site after examinees input results of the Center Shiken -- a common test for national and public universities held on Jan. 18 and 19. The two companies jointly operate a Web site to support university examinees on Yahoo! Japan, a Web server.Other services on the Net include updates on the number of applicants for university entrance exams, guides for many universities, final workbooks for English exams and links for useful sites for students, the companies said.
