Convenience stores have become a little more decadent since Haagen-Daz released its new limited-run flavors.
One of these, Caramel truffle (¥294), pairs a classic sweet with an ingredient that has become shorthand for "culinary upgrade." Like most culinary buzzwords, though, this ice cream doesn't bring anything extra special to the table.
Though the caramel is rich and there are crunchy bits of chocolate distributed throughout, this ultimately tastes like regular caramel ice cream. It's good, just don't bank on luxury.
