Rascal the Racoon, the Japanese cartoon character created in 1977, has received one of the highest honors an animated woodland creature can get — his own cake.
Until June 18, the Cafe Comme Ca in Shibuya's Seibu department store (www.cafe-commeca.co.jp) is offering a Rascal cake set (¥1,000), which includes a drink. The main dessert isn't exactly an accurate representation of Rascal, but it is tasty, the dominant flavor being sweet chocolate, complimented by even sweeter fudge-like "tails" jutting out of the sides. Make sure to eat this one in the store as stuffed-toy versions of Rascal are sitting on the cafe's tables.
