Cooling off sizzling summer streets
As part of a community collaboration project, the Tokyo Station Hotel is offering a special accommodation plan on July 25, which allows customers to join local community activities.
On July 25, an annual summer event to let people experience traditional Japanese ways to cool down as well as to strengthen community relations will be held throughout the Otemachi, Marunouchi and Yurakucho districts in Chiyoda Ward, home to many skyscrapers and one of the biggest business areas in Tokyo.
From 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Gyoko-dori, a street that runs from Tokyo Station to the Imperial Palace, an uchimizu, or the practice of sprinkling water on the ground to lower temperatures, event will be held to cool down the temperature of the ground. Following that and running through 9 p.m. a Bon Odori folk dance event will take place.
