The American cafe and restaurant Bubby's is opening a new branch in the Yaesu underground shopping mall of Tokyo Station, known as Yaechika, on June 22.
The first Bubby's opened in the Tribeca area of Manhattan in 1990, starting out as a pie shop then enlarging its menu to offer other traditional American fare. In 2003, Bubby's opened a branch in Brooklyn and in June 2009, the first overseas restaurant opened in Yokohama. After the launch of an Akasaka branch this February, Bubby's third branch in Japan will be in the underground shopping arcade directly connected to Tokyo Station, in the capital's business district.
Opening as early as 7:30 a.m., the restaurant offers a variety of classic American dishes such as homemade pies, pancakes, eggs Benedict and hamburgers. The restaurant also offers takeout, so people can drop in for breakfast or lunch, or make a brief visit to pick something up before heading to the office.
