The Hotel Okura Tokyo will hold its fourth annual Hotel Okura Live Index event on Dec. 24.
Held since 2007 and supported by Blue Note Tokyo, the event invites Japanese and foreign musicians to perform on the hotel's premises. This year, the Count Basie Orchestra, one of the most prominent big bands in the world, will offer jazz standards for the special night, with Carmen Bradford as the guest vocalist.
The Count Basie Orchestra was formed by late American master musician William Count Basie (1904-1984) and is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. The band has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in the United States and has won 17 Grammy Awards.
