The Italian restaurant Fiorentina at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo is showcasing tomatoes, which are in season in Italy and Japan.
The restaurant offers a variety of ripe tomatoes picked from Japanese farms in its original dishes. One appetizer (costing ¥1,600) consists of a variety of these Japanese tomatoes in a cocktail glass with three condiments: premium sea salt, 25-year-old balsamic vinegar with Sicilian olive oil and apple mostarda (a type of relish) with herb mayonnaise. Pizza featuring buffalo mozzarella with salted tomatoes sells for ¥2,600 while spaghettini with fruit tomatoes, prosciutto, cervatica and fresh tomato sauce costs ¥2,700 and grilled fish of the day with herb-crumbled tomato is ¥3,200.
At the terrace seating overlooking Keyakizaka Street, a lunch set with some of the above special dishes will be available for ¥3,600 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
