Can quality wine be made in Japan?
A dry growing season and large day-night temperature swings are both critical requirements for growing high quality wine grapes. Japan, unfortunately, offers neither.
"But there is hope," exclaims Bruce Gutlove, a UC Davis-trained winemaker and managing director of Coco Farm and Winery in Tochigi Prefecture. "Just not where you might expect to find it."
