A pattern for life was set very early for Steven Morgan.
"From the age of 5 I was singing solos in church," he said. "In third grade I showed interest in classical music. One of my teachers noticed this, and suggested I begin singing in the boys' choir. I don't really remember, but I'm told that when I was 8 I conducted the church choir once, when the choir master suddenly couldn't."
The aplomb he showed then in dealing with an emergency has stayed with him. "Even in stressful situations, when I am conducting I am very, very calm," he said. "When I am singing, it's different. I get nervous about forgetting the words."
