I got a whiff of this story last week at Inside.com. It was in a news brief about a journalist who had floated details about a company that would soon offer new top-level domain names.
It smelled good because, if the leak proved to be true, the company had managed to leap-frog over the lumbering Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the nonprofit body that currently oversees top-level domains.
And, speak of the devil, I received an invite to a teleconference for New.net, Monday,11:30 a.m. EST. A little past my bedtime, but like I said, this could be interesting.
