Ahh, vindication is sweet. Especially when you don't have to toot your own horn. So take a bow, Mark Thompson: You got it in one last week when you identified security issues as anxiety numero uno for Internauti this year.
Mark's take on e-angst is echoed by the "Call to Action" issued by the CERIAS Security Visionary Roundtable, a panel of 15 high-powered IT thinkers brought together by Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) and the Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security at Purdue University. (The report is available at www.cerias.purdue.edu/events/summit_4q2000.php)
It's a scary 35 pages, primarily because I don't see any convincing answers to the problems they expose. How do you sleep well at night when security experts conclude that "the problem of security really is as hard as we all believe it is, there are no silver bullets and there's a lot that has to be done to address the problem"?
