Jake Murdoch can play more instruments than he has years alive on this planet: 16 instruments to 13 years.
On top of that, apart from his upcoming song “Every1 Loves U,” the young Australian musician has also recorded all of the backing tracks and vocals to his tunes himself. And he’s all about variety on the vocal side, too. Murdoch sings in English, Spanish and Japanese. So, how has this newly minted teen built up such a musical arsenal at such a young age?
“(Music) has always been there as long as I can remember,” Murdoch says of his earliest musical memories, adding that his inspirations include Prince, Bruno Mars and a slew of artists from the 1980s up until the present day. One of his favorite acts, though, is the legendary Australian band INXS — and Murdoch has been lucky (well, talented) enough to have written two songs with keyboardist and main composer Andrew Farriss.
