May 26-July 1

Globalization has altered the framework in which art has been classified over many years. Region, genre and even era are becoming less relevant as advances in technology make it easier to experience other cultures. One of the results of such change is a trend in contemporary art museums in Europe and North America to hold more thematic exhibitions.

Featuring artists from all over the world, this exhibition of works from the National Museum of Art, Osaka's collection is categorized into 19 distinct themes, including "elements of works" and "subjects depicted in works." Fifty new acquisitions are also being presented in this show. Viewers may be surprised by artists' interpretations of some of the themes.
