July 27-Aug. 23
This large-scale touring exhibition of renowned British fashion designer Paul Smith has just moved from its opening venue in Kyoto to The Ueno Royal Museum in Tokyo.
Following the career of Smith, the exhibits reveal aspects of the designer's life, including recreations of the interiors of his very first boutique in Nottingham and his design studio. Other highlights are a video installation titled "Inside Paul's Head" and a massive wall made up of 70,000 colorful buttons representing the individual nature of each Paul Smith shop in the world. As visitors leave the venue, they will also see a display of Paul's words of wisdom: "Everyday is a new beginning." It's an indication of the positivity and drive that has led him to be such a successful designer.
