To mark the 55th anniversary of the sister-city affiliation between Detroit, Michigan, and Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art is hosting an exhibition of works from the Detroit Institute of Arts. Among the 52 European masterpieces of this exhibition, 15 are being displayed in Japan for the first time. This includies post-impressionist Vincent van Gogh's landscape painting "The Oise at Auvers" and 20th-century Austrian artist Oskar Kokoschka's "The Elbe Near Dresden." Divided into four sections, the exhibition begins with 18th-century impressionist works and ends with 20th-century masterpieces.
