Writer, photographer and conceptual artist Sophie Calle is a veteran of solo shows, having held exhibitions at impressive venues such as the Tate Britain in London and Paris' Pompidou Centre. Her works are cerebral, focusing on human frailty, vulnerability and identity, and often involve photography juxtaposed with texts.
As the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art marks its reopening after barrier-free renovations, it revisits its own 2003 Calle solo show by displaying some of her famous older pieces alongside recent works. These include "The Blind" (1986), "The Last Image" (2010) and "Voir la Mer" (2011).
Toyota Municipal Museum of Art; 8-5-1 Kozakahonmachi, Toyota, Aichi. Toyotashi Stn. 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. (Oct. 10-12 till 8 p.m.). ¥800. Closed Mon. 0565-34-6610; www.museum.toyota.aichi.jp
