Sept. 20-Nov. 15
Nerima Art Museum is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a special exhibition on the French impressionist landscape painter Alfred Sisley (1839-1899). Born to British parents in Paris, Sisley met fellow impressionists Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Jean Frederic Bazille when he studied at the Swiss artist Charles Gleyre's atelier.
Separated into three parts, this exhibition looks at Sisley's final years from the 1870s to the 1890s, explores his various depiction of the banks of the River Seine, and examines how the artist's style of impressionism influenced Japanese artists. A total of 60 works by the artist will be exhibited.
