Asian mothers always seem to overdo it — both in real life and in cinema.
"I used to struggle with that during my teens," says Hong Khaou, the writer and director of "Lilting," a tale of motherly love and filial devotion (tinged heavily with obligation) between a Cambodian-Chinese mom and her gay son in London.
"Lilting" is Khaou's first feature film, and, unlike his previous short films, it addresses the role of mothers and family in gay relationships.
