Back in Japan after a year of study and research in Europe, Nobuaki Onishi is now holding his third solo exhibition at Gallery Nomart.
Onishi is known for works that subvert notions of reality by playing on our perception of objects and art. What at first seems ordinary and normal will, on closer inspection, appear as unusual or odd.
For this solo show, he is presenting two new types of work: "Vacuum," a series of hollow classical-style sculptures, and "Through Printing," works that re-interpret screen printing by replacing the mesh stencil to transfer ink with a spray system.
Gallery Nomart; 3-5-22 Nagata, Joto-ku, Osaka. Fukaebashi Stn. 1 p.m.- 7 p.m. Free admission. Closed Sun. 06-6964-2323; www.nomart.co.jp/gallery
