Japan is a paradise for pampered pets. There are dog manicure salons, dog spas, cat gourmet treats and many other ways to treat your furry friends. A trip to the nearest park will reveal plenty of owners walking dogs who are quite often dressed in fancy outfits. This means the Interpets event at Tokyo Big Sight on July 24 will likely be crowded, but it could also be entertaining, even if you don't own a pet.
Interpets exhibitors come from Japan and abroad to introduce and promote their latest pet-related products and ideas. Though it's a trade fair, it's open for three days to the public who are invited to bring their pets. It's a good opportunity for owners to purchase new or unusual products, while other animal lovers can enjoy the parade of pets.
In addition to the numerous booths selling foods, toys, leads, accessories and more, several events are scheduled throughout the day. One event not to be missed by fashionista pups, is a display of the latest pet haute couture at the Crystal Zooland Fashion Show. There's also a pet photo service where you can learn tips on ways to get your dog's (or even trickier, your cat's) attention, while gaining insight on how to make your pet hold its best profile pose long enough for you to get a shot.
But it's not all quirky animal fun, specialists will also be at hand to give talks about pet lifestyle and hygiene, as well as provide consultations or advice about animal health.
Interpets takes place at Tokyo Big Sight from July 24 to 27; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Entry is ¥1,500. For discount coupons and more information, visit www.interpets.jp/2014/en.
