Grindhouse aficionados will no doubt recognize the name of director Jess Franco, whose trio of 1970s women-in-prison films are being released on DVD this month. "Barbed Wire Dolls" is the nastiest of the lot, with Lena Romay playing a woman imprisoned for killing her incestuous father, only to wind up tormented by a butch warden. Shocking in its day, laughably cheesy and bizarre now.
