Jenko used to be a girl-magnet jock-god, so this high school thing should be a breeze for him. Not so for his cop buddy Schmidt (Jonah Hill), who was an overweight, bullied nerd and hasn't changed much since graduation. The surprise is that high school now functions as an equalizer and they're both treated like crap. As one classmate tells them with true disgust: "Wow, you look 40!"
The conceit of "21 Jump Street" is that you get to relive high school through Jenko and Schmidt, and learn that no matter how well you're prepared for the land mines of that particular institution, you still end up smashed to smithereens. Soon the pair are ready to call it quits and return to the land of grown-ups but their boss Dickson (Ice Cube) won't hear of it. A clever cameo gives them a bit of a moral boost, but otherwise, they're lion feed. Prepare to weep in sympathy.
