Odd things can happen in the forest, and at the Hakone Open Air Museum that includes the artistically strange. For this exhibition, artist Koji Kakuno dares to dangle himself from a tree in a wooden cocoonlike contraption for days at a time.
In search of a balance between nature and the digital world, Kakuno's performance work involves his transformation into a human "bagworm," an experience he will share with the world via Twitter (@bagworman) from May 2-6 and Aug. 9-13.
Other selected works for this show, which is also a pre-event to the "Meets Art" exhibition coming up in Kobe later this year, include Kotobuki Shiriagari's installation of revolving daruma (dharma dolls) set on a number of pedestals; March 22-Aug. 31.
