To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Yokohama Museum of Art is holding an exhibition of around 220 works selected from its 1,600-strong collection of ukiyo-e (woodcut prints)

Chosen to illustrate the art form's history from the Edo Period (1603-1867) to present day, the exhibition covers the evolution of prints — from their use of flyers to their popularity overseas and today's contemporary interpretations. The show includes works of world-famous artists, such as Kuniyoshi Utagawa (1798-1861) and Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934), as well as a selection of the latest modern works.

In March, the museum will also host an exhibition of video installations by Aya Momose as one of the museum's projects to support young artists; March 1-25.
