The cinema-to-TV exodus continues with "The Piano" director Jane Campion helming this mini-series, a New Zealand take on the small-town murder mystery milieu of "Twin Peaks" but with David Lynch's supernatural interests replaced by Campion's sexual politics. A detective (Elisabeth Moss) investigates the case of an abused child gone missing, with the most menacing suspect being the girl's father (Peter Mullan). The show has been rolling in awards and critic picks, and deservedly so.
