Director: Baz Luhrmann
Language: English
Leonardo DiCaprio and director Baz Luhrmann nail this adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, despite a reliance on CG. The only downer is Carey Mulligan, who plays Gatsby's love obsession Daisy. In the book, her main allure is the suggestion of enormous wealth and endless leisure; Mulligan's Daisy seems a bit too modernized and flimsy to portray old money. Otherwise, "old boy" Gatsby is intoxicating.
