Japan's top-notch jazz singers are heading to the Sapporo City Jazz festival this autumn, as part of the satellite events related to this year's Tokyo Designers Week.
The music event, now in its seventh year after launching in 2007 in Hokkaido's capital, has grown into one of the largest festivals of its kind thanks to the Rock Music Tent Live — Japan's first video-projection music dome. This year, that visually stunning stage in Sapporo will be recreated in Tokyo for the first time, where it will feature performances by the Terai Shoko Quartet on Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Sapporo City Jazz in Tokyo runs through Nov. 4, and musicians scheduled to appear include Juju, Anna Tsuchiya, Pe'Z and Ai Kuwabara Trio Project. A special menu of dishes using fresh ingredients from Hokkaido will also be available during the performances.
Sapporo City Jazz festival takes place between Oct. 26 and Nov. 4 inside the dome-style stage at Tokyo Designers Week in Meiji Jingu Gaien. Starting times vary depending on the day. Tickets are ¥6,000, which includes entry to other TDW venues. For more information, visit www.tdwa.com/en/tdw/special/collaboration/sapporocityjazz.html.
