On Oct. 26 and 27, organizers of morning markets across the nation will be getting together in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture, for the 18th National Morning Market Summit 2013 to discuss the future of their sector and exchange opinions on the latest trends.
For the layman, however, the truly enticing part of this annual event is held on its sidelines and includes a huge exhibition and sales of fresh produce from every corner of the country. A food court serving dishes using vegetables grown in Atsugi is also planned, while the city's own morning market, which has served locals for nearly 40 years, will offer fruit and vegetables picked from nearby farms. For kids, there's something special that you're unlikely to see at any other kind of summit — characters from TV Asahi's popular superhero series "Jyuden Sentai Kyoryuger" (known overseas as "Power Rangers"), who join the event on Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Exhibitions and morning markets at Zenkoku Asaichi Summit (National Morning Market Summit) will take place on Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Atsugi Chuo Park, near the city office. Entrance is free. For more information visit www.city.atsugi.kanagawa.jp.
