Documentary director James Marsh ("Man On Wire") turns to reality-based fiction with "Shadow Dancer," a taut tale of double-agents and betrayal set in Belfast in 1993. Single-mom and IRA-supporter Colette (Andrea Riseborough) gets nabbed by MI5 and forced to work as an informant in order to protect her young son, which involves ratting on her IRA-linked brothers (Aidan Gillen, Domhnall Gleeson). Her handler, Mac (Clive Owen) worries she's going to be sacrificed by his higher-ups. Marsh avoids taking a political stand to focus on the human cost of spying, and Riseborough's controlled performance is nothing short of amazing.
