This second attempt at adapting dystopian British comic series "Judge Dredd" is moderately more successful than Sylvester Stallone's 1995 version, but that's not saying much. It's basically a first-person shooter game without the interactivity. Karl Urban as the trigger-happy executioner certainly has the Mussolini-lockjaw look and captures Dredd's emotionless cool well, but the violence is taken to extremes that would make even the comic's creators cringe. Wonder what a head looks like after hitting the pavement from 75 stories up? Here's your film.
