Director: Dave Grohl

What do Neil Young, Metallica, Fleetwood Mac and Nirvana all have in common? They all recorded at legendary Los Angeles studio Sound City. This doc by first-time director Dave Grohl (of Nirvana, Foo Fighters) is a star-studded inside look at the late, lamented studio and its legendary Neve mixing desk; when boffins talk about the "presence" on Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours", this is where it came from. Grohl digresses into how digital recording, piracy etc. are killing off these temples of sound.
