Director: Tony Kaye
Language: English
Tony Kaye burned his bridges in Hollywood in 1998 after a very public falling-out with his producers over "American History X." His comeback film, "Detachment," barely opened anywhere despite being a bold, passionate work. Adrien Brody stars as a jaded substitute teacher at a dysfunctional urban high school who avoids caring about anything except maybe the teenage runaway (Sami Gayle) he puts up. Imagine an existentialist version of "Dangerous Minds" crossed with "Taxi Driver".
