German-born fashion photographer Erwin Blumenfeld (1897-1969) was particularly renowned for his cover shoots for fashion magazines such as Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. Although his extant works are highly acclaimed by art critics worldwide, they are rarely shown in Japan — mainly because they are housed in various locations across Europe.
This exhibition, supported by the Blumenfeld family, is the first large-scale retrospective of the photographer's work to be held in Japan. It brings together about 200 of the photographer's works , including vintage prints of images that became symbols of his success; till May 6.
