Located in Williamstown, Massachusetts, the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute is known in the United States for its wide range of European masterpieces dating from the Renaissance to the late 19th century. Besides its famous collection of French Impressionist paintings, it houses all genres of artwork from sculpture and pottery to sketches and photographs.
After a large-scale renovation led by Japanese architect Tadao Ando in 2010, the museum curated a commemoratory exhibition that started a worldwide tour the following year. Now in Japan, the exhibition presents an impressive collection of Impressionist masterpieces, including some by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet and Jacob Camille Pissarro; Feb. 9-May 26.
