As everyone knows, the job market is tight — even for young people just entering the workforce. This week, the NHK "real life" information program, "Otona e Tobira TV" ("The Door to Adulthood TV"; NHK-E, Thurs., 7:25 p.m.) offers advice for job seekers, who are confronted with an economic environment that is very different from the one their parents faced when they first looked for work.
In order to make the search more effective, the program shows viewers how to identify want ads for companies that probably won't match the job seeker's needs. It offers tips on how to balance a company's benefits (or lack thereof) with the potential sense of accomplishment, which can be more important to the individual's well-being in the long run. There are also demonstrations of interviews, both successful and unsuccessful.
The host is comedian Hiroyuki Ariyoshi, who has had a lot of experience looking for jobs.
