To anyone visiting Fukuoka next week and in need of omiyage (souvenirs) to take home, you may have hit the jackpot.
Next week, the city will host its eighth Fukuoka International Gift Show. The event is a trade show, but it will open to the public on June 13.
The range of goods that will be on display is impressive and, of course, neatly divided into several categories that include Beauty, Furnishings and Apparel categories, as well as the more exciting Trend goods category (think Christmas, toys, pets and all things "cute").
Another category of products is the "Gifts from the World" section. While organizers aren't letting on what kinds of gifts will be coming in from China, Thailand or The Philippines, they do promise items "with the exotic mystique of a far-away place."
The gift show will be held in conjuction with the first Fukuoka International Beauty Show, so those interested in a quick facial and some shopping might do well to skip the mall for the day and opt for something with a change of pace.
The Fukuoka International Gift Show takes place at Marine Messe in Fukuoka on June 13 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.). For more information, call the organizers at (03) 3843-9901 or visit www.giftshow.co.jp/english/8figs.
