The Japan Media Arts Festival, organized by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs, is an annual festival that brings together new Japanese media works, divided into four categories: art, entertainment, animation and manga.
Awards are given to participants of each of the categories and this year the grand prizes go to Yoshihiro Yamamoto's "Plain Voices" film; Tsubasa Ohyagi, Baba Kanpei, Takeshi Nozoe and John Powell's live-streamed "Space Balloon Project"; Akiyuki Shimbo's animation "Puella Magi Madoka Magica"; and Hisae Iwaoka's manga "Saturn Apartments"; till March 4.
